Responsibilities

  • Analysis, planning, design, and permitting of transportation and highway projects
  • Management of small to large scale transportation engineering projects
  • Oversight on projects and serving as a technical resource
  • Preparation of design calculations and contract documents
  • Quality review of highway, civil, and traffic design calculations and contract documents
  • Participation in meetings with clients and project team members
  • Aid in business development with MaineDOT and other public and private sector clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Maine preferred or ability to get reciprocity)
  • 6+ years’ experience in Transportation Engineering required
  • Demonstrated experience in federal, state (ME preferred), and local permitting processes
  • Demonstrated experience in managing small to large projects
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, and knowledge of MicroStation or interest in learning a plus
  • Detail oriented, thorough, well organized, and able to effectively manage time
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent, critical thinker with strong analytical ability, commitment to high-quality, and follow-through

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Transportation Engineering
  • Experience in managing small to large projects
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation or willingness to learn
  • Ability to perform quality reviews of design calculations and contract documents
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
