Transportation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepare roadway, highway, and transportation design plans for a variety of public infrastructure projects.
• Develop design calculations, engineering reports, technical specifications, and construction documents.
• Perform roadway geometric design, drainage coordination, utility coordination, and traffic-related analyses.
• Utilize engineering software including MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related transportation design tools.
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders throughout project development.
• Assist with project planning, scope development, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Support preparation of permit applications and environmental documentation as required.
• Participate in field reviews, site investigations, and construction support activities.
• Ensure designs comply with ODOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, and applicable local regulations.
• Contribute to proposal development and business development efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
• 4+ years of transportation engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with roadway design, intersection improvements, corridor studies, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with ODOT standards, specifications, and project development processes.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a consulting environment.

• Municipal roadway and corridor improvement projects.
• Roundabouts, roadway reconstruction, and multimodal transportation facilities.
• Traffic control planning and maintenance of traffic design.
• Construction administration and construction phase services.
