Work Environment
Role involves working both indoors and outdoors, including handling vehicle-related tasks and interacting with residents in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Resident Transport: Safely transport residents to medical appointments, therapy sessions, social activities, and other destinations as scheduled.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on transportation vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any issues to the maintenance department.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and facility policies regarding vehicle safety and resident transportation.
- Assistance and Support: Provide assistance to residents entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, mileage, and any incidents or observations during trips.
- Communication: Coordinate with facility staff, family members, and external providers to ensure effective and timely transportation arrangements.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, including coordinating with emergency services if needed.
- Customer Service: Exhibit professionalism and empathy while interacting with residents, family members, and facility staff. Address any concerns or special requests with a positive attitude.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Previous experience in a driving or transportation role preferred, particularly within a healthcare or senior care environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist residents as needed and to handle physical tasks related to vehicle operation and maintenance.
