Transportation Director

About the role

The Transportation Director supports all of The Granite YMCA’s transportation needs for childcare, camp, and specialty programs. This is a dynamic role based in Goffstown, NH, where the fleet is kept throughout the year. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of driver supervision, including hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
• Work collaboratively with Program Directors and Executive Directors to ensure smooth operations and teamwork toward shared goals.
• Collaborate with the Association Facilities Director on vehicle maintenance and fleet-related needs.
• Complete small mechanical repairs as needed.
• Coordinate trainings for non-CDL drivers.
• Oversee inspection and registration of the fleet.
• Ensure drivers operate buses according to Association and Department of Transportation safety standards.
• Maintain concise records for control, evaluation, and reporting.
• Process purchase orders and fuel receipts as needed.
• Drive the bus an average of 15 hours per week.
• Hold regular staff meetings and trainings for drivers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience in a business setting.
• Commercial driving experience and a CDL bus license required.
• Fleet management experience, including dispatch.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA, IFTA, DOT guidelines and laws, and the Federal Clearing House.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Skills

• Able to develop positive and effective working relationships with drivers, camp and childcare staff, and administrative support teams.
• Effectively lead groups, facilitate discussion, and train staff.
• Able to handle multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

Salary range is $50,000–$58,000 based on experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time, year-round position based in Goffstown, NH, with occasional travel to other locations as required. Occasional remote work is permitted. Anticipated start date is mid-August.
