Responsibilities
- Perform analysis and design for various types of roadways or bridges, including new constructions, widening and rehabilitations in accordance with WVDOH requirements.
- Review and approve design plans from subcontractors.
- Cookordination with public and governmental agencies for project approvals.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing technical engineering reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
- Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing roadway (or bridge) conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of State DOT/DOH policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of civil and engineering principles, reporting, analysis and management of teams and projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage and train others and be a team player.
- Ability to be reliable and on time.
- Must have a high level of professionalism, and comfortable with client interaction – have the ability to build relationships.
- Quality-minded and client-focused.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
- Master’s degree (MSCE) preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of WVDOH design standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
