About the role
You’ll lead the Transportation Design Division, influence how transportation projects are delivered, and build a high-performing team in a growing market. This role balances technical excellence with operational oversight, guiding project managers, overseeing multiple projects, driving quality, and contributing to business development and division growth. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Transportation Design Division, including project managers and design staff
- Oversee multiple transportation design projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget performance
- Serve as a senior client contact for transportation-related work
- Support and drive business development efforts, including client relationships and pursuits
- Collaborate with leadership to grow the transportation division and expand market presence
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering a strong team culture and technical excellence
- Ensure consistent application of QA/QC processes and high-quality project delivery
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in project oversight
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license for North Dakota
- 10+ years of experience in transportation design or related infrastructure
- Experience managing teams and leading complex projects
- Strong understanding of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC)
- Experience working with NDDOT and/or public agency clients
- Proficiency in relevant design and production tools
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal background check and driving record review

- Business development experience, including proposals and client engagement
- Experience working across multiple offices or disciplines
