About the Role
The Transportation Coordinator/Van Driver assists the Project Director in day-to-day Project operations by providing transportation services for Project participants. Responsibilities include preparing a weekly pick-up and drop-off schedule to ensure participants attend specified trainings and events on time, setting up and arranging Project areas, assisting with distributing and collecting training materials, supporting Project instructors and trainers during sessions, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Operate all transportation vehicles to deliver prepared meals to Project youth participants at various Ready4Life Project sites daily.
- Navigate transportation routes in the City of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- Exercise considerable tact and judgment when working with youth and resolving complex personnel and family problems, which may involve federal, state, or local law enforcement officials.
- Listen empathetically to Project participants, analyze and prioritize needs, and deliver or refer appropriate assistance.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with a pleasant voice, demonstrating patience and concern.
- Work harmoniously with employees, public and private service agencies, government entities, and community volunteer groups.
- Absorb and utilize new information and techniques effectively.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Credential or 3 to 5 years of work experience as a driver for a business, social, community-based, or faith-based organization.
- Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience to meet required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, day or night shifts, and split shifts as required.
Pay
$15 per hour for 20 hours per week.
