Transportation Coordinator

Purpose Statement

Responsible for safely transporting patients to and from appointments, activity trips, airport shuttle service and other special events.

Essential Functions

• Oversight of all aspects of the transportation department including logistics.
• Allocation of transport shift activity, ensuring appropriate staff are available to meet planned activity levels.
• Ensuring facility vehicles are in proper repair at all times, communicating safety and other concerns timely and clearly to the appropriate staff.
• Coordination of daily and any on-call schedules to meet patient transportation needs.
• Responding and adhering to “on call” schedule as required.
• Maintenance of vehicle maintenance schedules and ensuring maintenance is completed as required.
• Maintenance of vehicle log(s) and reporting maintenance issues to appropriate facility staff.
• Completion of all transportation documentation accurately and timely.
• Scheduling drivers for appropriate runs.
• Driving facility vehicle to pick up supplies and equipment as needed.
• Maintaining safe transportation practices in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Hiring, orienting, training, scheduling and supervising transportation staff if applicable.
• Demonstrating a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.
• Recognizing that patient safety is a top priority when patient needs are not met and working to resolve complaints.

Education/Experience/Skills Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent required.
• One or more years’ experience in a similar position required.
• One or more years’ experience in building maintenance preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• A valid State Driver’s License required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
