About the role
Review company sales orders and combine them into full truckloads using the Transportation Management System (TMS). Coordinate transportation of finished goods to and from company facilities and to customers, including shuttle coordination.
Responsibilities
- Determine loads using TMS and geographic knowledge.
- Coordinate Overage, Shortage, Damage in transit (OS&D); communicate and receive disposition for OS&D.
- Act as a liaison between carriers and the organization to maintain open communication; hold vendors accountable for not meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
- Communicate transportation status to stakeholders including sales representatives, brokers, customers, vendors, and management.
- Facilitate and resolve issues with road breakdowns, accidents, weather delays, and route exceptions.
- Minimize freight cost by meeting department KPIs, including maximizing truck weights.
- Forecast, schedule, and track daily shipments, including shuttle coordination; use production schedules to determine required daily capacity and make recommendations for shipment problems.
- Create and distribute weekly shipping reports, customer pickup schedules, and daily sales order reports; recommend schedule changes based on reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- One (1) year of logistics experience.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Three (3) years of logistics experience.
- Preferred: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, and present a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Working Conditions
- Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination for office machinery.
- Oral and auditory capacity for interpersonal and automated communication (e.g., telephone).
- Able to travel up to 10% of the time.
