CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, has an immediate hiring need for a Transportation Construction Manager. Local candidates preferred. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

About the role

The Transportation Construction Manager (TCM) oversees construction inspection staff, consults with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others on matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices, and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work.

The TCM oversees preparation of daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor
  • Ensure compliance with the contractor's health and safety plan
  • Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents
  • Check contractor's layout and verify accuracy
  • Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire's and Owner's requirements
  • Review/Route Submittals and RFIs (electronically)
  • Keep records of quantities completed for contractor payment
  • Process Change Orders
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Follow and convey instructions
  • Utilize computers and common office equipment
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
  • Wear required personal protective gear/equipment
  • React to hazardous warnings and signals
  • Infrequently perform manual labor
  • Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions
  • Limited exposure to chemicals

Other Duties

  • Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company
  • Oversee inspection staff and provide direction and mentoring as required to less experienced staff
  • Other duties which may be required, commensurate with the position

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education
  • Able to read, write, and clearly communicate in English and perform basic math computations associated with Heavy Highway construction projects
  • 10+ years of Construction Management/Inspection experience
  • NICET Level IV in Transportation/Highway Construction or PE License in Pennsylvania
  • NECEPT Bituminous field technician certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Asphalt Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products & Adobe or BlueBeam
  • PennDOT Concrete Certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification
  • Must be able to work in the United States
