Transportation Construction Manager 1
About the role
This role focuses on supervising construction activities, reviewing project work, and ensuring projects meet standards, plans, and safety expectations. It involves guiding inspection efforts, coordinating with partners, and supporting field decisions throughout each project.
Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee construction work and confirm compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements
- Technical Support: Assist with resolving construction issues and reviewing plans for constructability and accuracy
- Inspection Oversight: Supervise inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure they meet required standards
- Partner Coordination: Work with municipalities, utilities, contractors, and other groups to address project concerns
- Documentation Control: Prepare reports, work orders, estimates, and records to track project progress and compliance
- Team Leadership: Assign tasks, review performance, and support training and development of staff
Requirements
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training. Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation. An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

These positions require travel to project sites throughout Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Pike Counties. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Schedule
Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
