The Allentown-based Construction Management Team is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals for multiple positions within PennDOT’s District 5-0 region (Lehigh, Berks, Carbon, Monroe, and Schuylkill Counties). Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g., H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.

Required Skills

  • Computer proficiency.

Required License and/or Certifications

  • Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle (must successfully complete and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening).
  • Preferred certifications include:
    • NICET Level II or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
    • NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician.
    • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician.

Experience

  • Highway or bridge construction inspection experience required.
  • Preferred:
    • One or more years of Construction Inspection or Highway Occupancy Permit Inspection experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
    • Understanding of roadway/bridge construction.
    • High School or GED equivalent (higher education may substitute for experience).
    • CDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 experience.
    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management (additional technical degrees considered).

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Extensive bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, lifting, and carrying objects up to 25 lbs may be required. Work may occur in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
