CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects in the Greater Scranton/PennDOT District 4 area. Local candidates are highly desirable; relocation or sponsorship is not available.

About the role

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) consults with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others on matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and construction methods, practices, and safety precautions. The TCI prepares daily progress reports, maintains progress schedules, checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations, keeps records of materials and costs, and prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with contract documents by the contractor
  • Ensure compliance with the contractor's health and safety plan
  • Verify delivered materials conform to contract documents
  • Check contractor's layout and verify accuracy
  • Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Follow and convey instructions
  • Utilize computers and common office equipment
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Wear required personal protective gear/equipment
  • React to hazardous warnings and signals
  • Infrequently perform manual labor
  • Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions
  • Limited exposure to chemicals
  • Travel as required around the Greater Scranton area
  • Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the position as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Basic math computations for length, area, and volume
  • Must be able to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
  • NECEPT Bituminous field certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification
  • PennDOT/PTC CDS certification
  • ECMS experience
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification
