Transportation Construction Inspector Luzerne County District 4
CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects in the Greater Scranton/Wilkes-Barre PennDOT District 4 area. Local candidates are highly desirable; relocation or sponsorship is not available.
About the role
The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) consults with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others on plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and construction methods, practices, and safety precautions. The TCI prepares daily progress reports, maintains progress schedules, checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations, keeps records of materials and costs, and prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with contract documents by the contractor.
- Ensure compliance with the contractor's health and safety plan.
- Verify delivered materials conform to contract documents.
- Check contractor's layout and verify accuracy.
- Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire's and Owner's requirements.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.
- Follow and convey instructions.
- Utilize computers and common office equipment.
- Perform physical tasks including bending, stretching, kneeling, sitting, and standing.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
- Respond to hazardous warnings and signals.
- Infrequently perform manual labor.
- Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
- Handle limited exposure to chemicals.
Other Duties
- Travel as required around the Greater Scranton area for job-related duties.
- Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
- Perform other duties commensurate with the position as directed by a supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and perform basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering.
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
- NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
- ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
- PennDOT/PTC CDS certification.
- ECMS experience.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification.
