About the role

JMT is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Gather and maintain record documents
• Make field notes and computations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience
• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
• Strong computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Previous PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience
• Client Requested certifications, including:
  • NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
  • NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
  • CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in the field
• Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed
• Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
