About the Role

As a Transportation Driver, you will provide safe and courteous transportation for residents to and from appointments and activities. You will also assist with other duties as assigned by an authorized supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
  • Report witnessed allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Secure passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize during transport.
  • Assist residents in wheelchairs and disabled passengers into and out of the vehicle.
  • Manage time and create efficient routes to accommodate appointments and activities.
  • Communicate with Administrator and Nursing Department regarding any service disruptions.
  • Clean and service the vehicle with fuel.
  • Report all vehicle repairs and unsafe or hazardous concerns immediately to the Administrator.
  • Assist with CNA or Maintenance duties between appointments/activities, as directed by the Administrator.
  • Be flexible and available for special occasions, holidays, and weekends.
  • Be ‘on-call’ during scheduled days; arrange for a replacement if unavailable.

Requirements

  • Regular worksite attendance.
  • CNA license in good standing with the State.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • If required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the Facility’s Motor Vehicles policy requirements.
  • Must be 21 years of age to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be over the age of 25 and under the age of 70 to operate a 15-passenger vehicle.
  • Must have a current CDL to operate a 16+ passenger vehicle.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by State regulations and Company policy, which may include medical and physical examinations.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 4 feet.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting, and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and hostile people within the Facility.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to meet the requirements of this position.
