Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work on projects and assignments as part of the larger Transportation team.
  • Draw from prior experience, interpret facts, and identify incomplete data/anomalies to solve problems.
  • Provide freight quotes and ad hoc logistic scenario planning.
  • Responsible for facilitating and/or coordinating transportation operations and ensuring the movement and tracking of raw materials, finished goods, and machinery from origin port to destination.
  • Establish relationships and interact with internal/external shipping locations, forwarders, ocean shipping lines, OTR providers, and transload facilities to ensure goods and materials are delivered on-time and at an optimized cost.
  • Perform accurate analyses, conduct research, and draw meaningful conclusions on various transportation related tasks.
  • Negotiate with vendors, carriers, and contractors.
  • Provide detailed information to support cost estimates.
  • Monitor and report on international logistics key performance indicators for continuous improvement.
  • Avoid unnecessary costs (detention, demurrage).
  • May be responsible for payment of various vendors and invoice validity.
  • May be responsible for tracking customer orders upon request, assisting with customer related problems, and various other transportation matters as defined by designated department.
  • Research and troubleshoot international shipments.
  • Update and maintain up-to-date cargo information in appropriate tracking system and/or website to ensure accurate status is available throughout organization.
  • Generate necessary reports and paperwork for international shipments.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • SAP skills preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles as well as industry practices and standards.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of SAP (preferred).
