Requirements, Licenses And Certification
- Minimum: 48 units, Associates Degree or pass CBEST
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid CA Driver License and proof of valid auto insurance
- Ability to safely: Sit, walk, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, chase, lift up to 75 lbs., implement non-violent physical crisis intervention techniques
Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
- Transportation Assignment:
- Meet student at their residence at the designated time communicated by the Program Specialist
- Board the student’s transportation vehicle and ride with the student
- Monitor student behavior and health concerns on the transportation route to and from CHDS
- Contact the parent/guardian of student if unable to cover the route
- Contact the Program Specialist / HBIC Administration if unable to cover the route
- School-based Assignment:
- Aid students with special needs in self-help activities and daily living skills
- Assist students with mobility issues
- Assist with toileting and toilet training (as needed)
- Instruct in hygiene
- Assist with cooking activities
- Assist with eating and nutritional needs
- Maintain clean work areas
- Follow instructions for maintaining equipment and supplies
- Prepare and gather instructional materials
- Lift and secure students using a two-person lift as necessary
- Modify activities for students with special needs
- Check and follow each student's individual and class schedules
- Record academic and behavioral data
- Remove students during behavioral disturbances (as needed/directed)
- Communicate with the school office
- Aid in distributing parent-teacher communications
- Aid in preparing and gathering IEP-based goal work
- Turn in completed documentation forms
- Aid in behavioral interventions as needed
- Provide clear behavior expectations and monitor student behaviors
- Follow established policies and procedures for incident reporting
