PURPOSE

The Transportation Operations Specialist drives departmental excellence by optimizing pupil transportation technology performing advanced data analytics and leading staff training initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring that software systems and hardware peripherals are leveraged to maximize student safety operational efficiency and superior service delivery.

About the Role

This role plays a key role in the preparation and execution of the annual and periodic route bidding process. It also supports the FWCS Schools of Success mission to empower all students to reach their potential through equitable and relevant community-connected experiences to ensure students achieve at least one of the 4E’s - (Enrollment Employment Enlistment or Entrepreneurship).

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate on the strategic planning and implementation of technology goals.

  • Research, evaluate and provide expert recommendations for new hardware and software procurement.

  • Create comprehensive user documentation and facilitate workshops to ensure Transportation personnel are proficient in all departmental technology and peripherals.

  • Participate in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of transportation computer systems, software applications, and hardware.

  • Participate in professional development and industry training to stay current on project management and evolving transportation technology.

  • Manage and troubleshoot video and radio communication devices; perform direct repairs or coordinate replacements to ensure fleet connectivity and safety.

  • Adjust routes in real-time based on student enrollment, attendance trends, construction, and community feedback. Proactively communicate changes to drivers, school staff, and families.

  • Develop and maintain data dashboards and metrics for leadership. Identify operational trends and recommend process improvements to increase accountability and ridership efficiency.

  • Utilize radio and digital communication systems (Dispatch) to coordinate driver flow ensuring the timely and safe transport of all district students.

  • Play a key role in the preparation and execution of the annual and periodic route bidding process.

  • Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty (25) pounds or more.
