Responsibilities
- Transports patients, and patient care equipment to designated areas throughout the hospital.
- Use EPIC Transport module to accept and record job assignments.
- Observes policies and procedures pertaining to safe bed operations, 02 equipment, stretchers, wheelchairs, lift devices and other patient care equipment.
- Observes hospital policies regarding Isolation precautions and required PPE policies.
- Ability to transport and treat patients with respect for their privacy and modesty.
- Physically move patients on and off transport equipment.
- Aid the patient care units/departments staff with transferring patients to and from beds to wheelchairs/stretchers.
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment in accordance with the hospital policies and complying with the governing regulations.
- Demonstrate behaviors necessary for age-specific care and knowledge of decision-making process for all ages of population(s) served.
- Obtain appropriate equipment to accomplish tasks with minimal disruption.
- Deliver wheelchairs and stretchers that need repair to the designated area.
- Ability to cope with and manage change.
- Perform duties in accordance with HIPAA policies.
- Train new Transport techs on all aspects of the job: i.e., equipment, patient tracking via phone, recording job assignments, body mechanics, elevator etiquette, etc.
- To maintain self in appearance and attitude in a professional manner.
- To function under pressure when interacting with patients, co-workers, etc. under difficult situations.
- Transport blood products, surgical specimens, and/or other various supplies as needed throughout the hospital.
- Alert Security Department when unusual occurrences are observed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must obtain CPR certification within the first 90 days of hire.
- Customer Service, Customer focus, and courteous bedside manner.
- Excellent communications skills to work with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Physical ability to help lift 50 lbs. and greater.
- Ability to push and pull patients and transportation equipment up and down inclines.
- Have the stamina to spend 90% of the workday on their feet.
- The ability to read and have basic computer skills necessary to utilize the hospital EMR to perform job duties.
Qualifications
- Preferred Job Qualifications: High school graduate or G.E.D.
