Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Fulfills the role of primary or secondary caregiver to ensure each patient receives appropriate treatment.
- Ensures adherence to department protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Communicates with Transport Coordinator about any issues or questions regarding duties and policies.
- Completes special assignments and projects as assigned by the Transport Coordinator.
- Attends regular safety and staff meetings.
- Shares responsibilities for post-transport activities such as cleaning, refueling, and restocking ambulance supplies and equipment.
- Maintains required number of continuing education hours.
- Speaks clearly and concisely over radio and telephone.
- Demonstrates ethical business practices and adheres to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Serves as a Preceptor/Mentor for new Transport Staff during department orientation.
- Aids in the completion of skills check lists and signs off on required skills check-offs.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience in 911/Critical Care or Emergency Medicine.
- Neonatal or Pediatric Emergency Room/ICU/PICU experience preferred.
- Flight Experience a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Currently Certified or Licensed in The State of Texas as an EMT-Paramedic.
- Maintains AHA or ARC cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and is current upon hire.
- Maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Obtain National Certification (FP-C, CCP-C, C-NPT) within 1 year post orientation.
