About the role
The Transport Lead supervises the day-to-day operations of the drivers and client deliverables in alignment with Empyreal's goals, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. This role emphasizes both the outcomes of work and the methods used to achieve them.
Responsibilities
- Provides effective day-to-day supervision of driver personnel.
- Communicates positively in a team-oriented environment through various means, including in-person, phone, written, and electronic communication.
- Schedules employees, determines priorities, assigns work, controls workflow, and resolves problems and bottlenecks.
- Supervises pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections and ensures routine and required maintenance and repairs are completed.
- Ensures the safe, accurate, and secure collection and delivery of clients' assets.
- Coordinates Federal Reserve trips and updates and sends the Authorized Transporter Lists and arrival notifications.
- Monitors staff and provides feedback and guidance.
- Ensures drivers follow the rules of the road and operate vehicles safely in various traffic, road, weather, and daylight conditions.
- Conducts group and one-on-one staff meetings and interfaces with other departments.
- Assists with the development and implementation of processes and procedures.
- Ensures staff awareness and compliance with all policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.
- Participates in the hiring and onboarding of new drivers.
- Trains, cross-trains, and develops employees.
- Ensures employees can properly operate scanners, hand-held devices, mobile apps, navigation systems, cameras, security devices, and other equipment, and load and unload ATM machines.
- Investigates, reports, and resolves operating issues, accidents, injuries, theft, and variances.
- Monitors department inventory, supplies, and equipment levels and works with proper channels to maintain adequate supplies.
- Ensures the team operates efficiently and produces high-quality work.
- Addresses performance, personnel, and personal conduct issues and coaches and disciplines employees as appropriate.
- Evaluates staff performance and conducts performance reviews.
- Makes recommendations pertaining to employee status changes.
- Travels as requested to assist with setting up new locations, conduct employee training, cross-train in other positions, fill in for others, and complete other assignments.
- Models and supports the company's vision, values, and desired culture.
- Assists and fills in for delivery drivers, dispatchers, and other personnel as needed.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or equivalent education is desirable.
- Prior secure transport/delivery driver experience is required, along with two or more years of experience supervising a team of employees.
- Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Planner is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work extended hours, some Saturdays, and some holidays.
- Occasional travel to other Empyreal facilities is required.
- Trustworthiness and the ability to act with integrity is of utmost importance.
