Transplant Services Specialist

About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Transplant Services Specialist with our Transplant/Liver department in Hyde Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The role is full-time (1.0 FTE), located in Hyde Park within the Transplant Department, and is a non-union position (CBA Code: Non-Union).

Responsibilities

• Serves as the initial contact for patients, their representatives, and staff
• Effectively communicates with all parties to capture details of the feedback while demonstrating sensitivity, compassion, and caring
• Documents feedback in the EPIC database and assign cases to the designated transplant teams for follow-up
• Monitors department voicemail, written mail, faxes, and email for feedback
• Follows up as necessary and enters the database for processing
• Maintains confidentiality in addressing sensitive patient issues
• Performs other duties assigned

Requirements

• 2 years in patient advocacy and/or customer service experience
• Experience working with various Microsoft based computer software programs for Excel and Word
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to solve problems independently, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, exercise good judgment, and work effectively in a team environment
• Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers, and other hospital staff to serve the needs of patients
• Ability to learn and incorporate new systems and processes
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills requiring tact, discretion, and maintaining patient confidentiality
• Ability to attend mandatory training classes offered by the Medical Center after hours or on weekends, with advance notice

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1 year of experience in a hospital or medical setting
• EPIC experience
• Ability to serve as an administrator of a web-based database

Schedule

Shift: Days (8:30 am - 5:30 pm), No Weekends.
