Transplant Coordinator

About the role

The Transplant Coordinator plays a critical role in facilitating the complex logistics of organ transplantation while prioritizing patient safety and well-being while ensuring a smooth and efficient journey for both the donor and recipient. The Transplant Coordinator coordinates the clinical management of the transplant/VAD patient including the transplant/VAD evaluation, the transplant/VAD process and follow-up care. Provides clinical leadership to care team members, allowing staff to plan, direct, manage outcomes and evaluate care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a smooth and efficient journey for both the donor and recipient
• Coordinate the clinical management of the transplant/VAD patient
• Evaluate care outcomes
• Provide clinical leadership to care team members
• Plan, direct, and manage care

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required)
• Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) required within three (3) years of hire
• Two (2) years of related nursing or transplant experience required

Qualifications

• Virginia RN License
• Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible
• BLS within 90 days of hire

Skills

• High acuity cardiac care
• Interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Use of high tech equipment such as mechanical circulatory support including ventricular assist devices (LVAD, BiVAD) and telemetry monitors
