As a Transplant Coordinator, you will provide input and facilitate the donor referral, clinical management, and organ recovery processes to maximize the number of transplantable organs and tissues. You will use your knowledge of critical care principles such as hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and administration of critical care medications. Your work will include completing medical and legal documentation of the organ recovery process, communicating with hospital development for effective donor follow-up, and making appropriate decisions regarding case complexity with escalation as needed. Your contributions will directly impact life-changing outcomes every day.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessment: Evaluate referrals for organ and tissue donor suitability based on LNH, OPTN/UNOS, AOPO, CDC guidelines, and other regulatory requirements. Ensure donated organs are allocated efficiently and timely in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies. Maximize organ and tissue recovery for utilization per established policies.
• Clinical Evaluation: Oversee all aspects of donor evaluation and physiological management, including review of medical and social history, assessment of hemodynamic stability, and implementation of strategies to optimize organ function prior to recovery. Demonstrate knowledge of the pathophysiological sequela of brain death. Identify organ and tissue-specific and behavioral risk factors using all available resources.
• Clinical Management: Preserve organs and tissue according to LNH and national standards to ensure maximum viability for transplantation. Provide the legal next-of-kin (NOK) with the option of organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner. Coordinate all logistical aspects of cases between LifeNet Health and transplant centers, ensuring effective communication and leadership with coworkers, physicians, and hospital staff throughout the donation process. Maintain permanent records of organ and tissue donations in accordance with confidentiality standards. Complete the donor EMR record accurately and timely per LNH Standard Operating Procedures.
• Training & Mentoring: Provide work direction, coaching, and mentoring in clinical competencies and serve as a Preceptor for new staff. Role model advanced proactive professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Two (2) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric, or ER
• Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Valid State Driver's License and meets LifeNet Health's minimum driving requirements for company-related driving
• Valid RN License – Active RN License in good standing with the issue state board of nursing (must be maintained throughout tenure)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator Certification
• Four (4) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric, or ER
• Four (4) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Skills

• Psychological Skills: Ability to manage stressful situations involving complex clinical scenarios and family dynamics; experience in medical compliance and data sharing preferred
• Proficient in MS Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Suite. Knowledge of procedures and services related to grief/family counseling and bereavement preferred
• Attention to Detail: Perform tasks thoroughly and with care; ensure high degree of accuracy/completeness and early/on-time delivery
• Business Acumen: Ability to work independently with in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and communicate this to others

Pay

Salary Range: $75,841 - $101,121. Final compensation will be based on factors such as geographic location, qualifications, and prior relevant experience. Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and relevant experience.
