Transmission System Senior Planning Engineer, STO Transmission Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead adoption of New York State clean energy requirements into Con Edisons Transmission Master Plan.
• Develop and oversee short and long-term bulk electric system studies for renewable integration, including offshore wind, solar, and energy storage.
• Perform advanced thermal, voltage, short-circuit, and stability analyses to maintain system reliability.
• Design and recommend transmission system modifications to accommodate new technologies and improve performance.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance in evaluating reliability benefits of proposed projects.
• Collaborate with NYISO and other entities to align local and bulk transmission planning efforts.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, including NERC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and 8 years of engineering work experience in planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. Or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and 6 years of work experience in planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system.
• Relevant Work Experience: Practical experience in the design and/or operation of the electric power system, required.
• Proficiency using PSS/E, TARA, Aspen or equivalent power system simulation programs, required.
