About the role
Join Zelestra in leading transmission and interconnection solutions for a 1.5 GW active construction portfolio (2027–2028 CODs) and a 10+ GW renewable and load interconnection pipeline across MISO, ERCOT, and PJM markets. This remote-based role requires 20%+ travel and reports to the VP of Construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead the interconnection strategy for 1.5 GW of active construction projects with 2027–2028 CODs, primarily across ERCOT and MISO.
- Own a 10+ GW renewable and load interconnection pipeline, guiding projects through complex ISO and transmission owner processes.
- Drive interconnection applications, studies, agreements, milestones, and modifications from initial submission through commercial operation.
- Partner closely with Development, Construction, Engineering, Commercial, Regulatory, Operations, and Compliance to protect schedule, cost, and project value.
- Negotiate critical generator interconnection agreements and represent Zelestra in key discussions with transmission owners and ISOs.
- Proactively manage interconnection milestones, financial commitments, project risks, and portfolio exposure.
- Stay ahead of evolving ISO/RTO regulations and policy changes to unlock opportunities and remove barriers to development.
- Shape regional transmission and interconnection strategies for future projects, transmission service, and behind-the-meter opportunities.
- Help strengthen Zelestra’s position in the market through industry engagement, conferences, publications, and external partnerships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, STEM, Business/Economics, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience, including 5+ years in commercial and regulated energy markets.
- Strong background in transmission planning, utility-scale engineering, project management, and interconnection.
- Proven experience securing interconnection approvals for U.S. renewable energy projects across RTO/ISO markets.
- Experience with transmission analysis, load flow, capacity, congestion, and related modeling tools such as TARA, PSS/E, or PSLF preferred.
- Strong understanding of power markets, interconnection, permitting, regulatory approvals, project development, engineering, and construction.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, negotiate with counterparties, and drive projects through completion.
- Excellent project management, communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, coachable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Pay
The anticipated starting salary for this role is $160,000 annual plus a competitive bonus structure. Actual pay will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
