About the role

The Transmission Line Section Manager at HDR is responsible for managing and executing the engineering and design components of high voltage Transmission Line projects up to 500kV. They work closely with a project manager to ensure technical execution while supporting business development and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a partnership with the PM, focusing on technical execution.
  • Develops and implements a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.
  • Assigns project tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members.
  • Participates in Client Development Planning and Execution.
  • Grows the Transmission practice through business development and strengthens client relationships.
  • Supports the technical aspects of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
  • Coordinates and/or performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables according to HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.
  • Performs quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
  • Works independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Project Engineers, EIT’s, or CADD/Designers.
  • Leads multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
  • Identifies and develops specific technical expertise, attends training and seminars, and assists with developing technical papers and/or presentations for industry conferences.
  • Participates in project reviews as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience.
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering.
  • PE license.
  • Experience with industry standard design software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.

Skills

  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous consulting firm experience.
