Transmission Line Engineering Manager

About the role

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee multiple engineering teams or a full department responsible for planning, designing, and executing transmission and distribution infrastructure projects. This position plays a key role in aligning engineering activities for value creation, regulatory and code compliance, and achieving long-term client goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple engineering teams or a full department responsible for planning, designing, and executing transmission and distribution infrastructure projects.
• Align engineering efforts with organizational goals, regulatory mandates, and long term client success.
• Manage project budgets, staffing, and performance evaluations, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Lead initiatives focused on grid modernization, system resilience, and integration of new technologies.
• Collaborate with operations, planning, construction, and executive teams to ensure engineering solutions support business needs.
• Develop and enforce engineering standards, processes, and quality assurance protocols across the department.

• Expert technical proficiency in transmission and distribution systems, standards, and tools.
• Budgeting and resource management across teams.
• Team coordination and excellent leadership skills.
• Attention to detail in design reviews and field support.
• Safety awareness and regulatory compliance understanding.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in transmission and distribution engineering.
• Experience leading engineering teams or departments.
• Proven track record of successful project management and budgeting.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team.
