About the position

VHB’s growing Energy Evolution Practice reflects our commitment to supporting the global transition to clean, sustainable energy solutions. The position is available in either Watertown, MA or Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
  • Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
  • Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
  • Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power.
  • Minimum 8 years professional engineering experience within the utilities industry (a Master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience).
  • Professional Engineering license expected.
  • Familiar with NESC recommended.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
  • Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.

Benefits

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $120,000-181,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
