About the position
VHB’s growing Energy Evolution Practice reflects our commitment to supporting the global transition to clean, sustainable energy solutions. The position is for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer with transmission line design experience.
Responsibilities
- Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
- Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
- Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
- Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power
- Min 8 years professional engineering experience within the utilities industry (a Master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
- Professional Engineering license expected
- Familiar with NESC recommended

- Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
- Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.
Benefits
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $120,000-181,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
