About the role

VHB is looking to add a designer/engineer with distribution and/or transmission line design experience to join our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would be part of an integrated team supporting substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support. This role can be based anywhere in VHB’s footprint within reasonable driving distance to one of our offices to engage in our hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
  • Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
  • Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
  • Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Skills

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
  • Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power preferred.
  • 3+ years preferred of experience within the utilities industry.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with the NESC is a plus.

Pay

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000. The final compensation will be based on individual qualifications, location, education, and experience.
