About the Role

Leidos is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to work as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems related to electric transmission. The role involves serving as a key contributor on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage overhead and underground systems for major utilities nationwide. Engineers will apply established standards such as NESC, ASCE, and ACI to design electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects. Responsibilities include performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, drafting plans and specifications, and creating material procurement and construction documents.

Work locations include Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, with hybrid schedules. Fully remote positions are available for qualified candidates. Relocation assistance is provided for those able to relocate within a commutable distance to Walled Lake, MI or Cranberry Township, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical design and engineering tasks for high-voltage transmission lines, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations under the guidance of Lead Engineers or Project Managers.
  • Perform engineering analyses, including PLS-CADD modeling and structure loading calculations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by learning and applying new technical tools, AI, and automation platforms.
  • Actively communicate and coordinate project progress with the Project Manager to ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Maintain strong technical proficiency in industry-standard software and Leidos design processes.
  • Work in a team environment while also operating independently; periodic travel or client office work may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
  • Experience using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a focus on collaboration across client and project teams.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience with TOWER, LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • EIT or PE certification.

Pay

Pay Range: $59,150.00 - $106,925.00. The range is a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
