About the role

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of power transmission infrastructure. They will collaborate with HDR’s global power delivery staff and construction teaming partners to manage technical bid development, estimating, and project transitions. This role involves managing technical risks, facilitating discussions on design and construction, and leading project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects.
  • Ensure a clear transition of scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Facilitate discussions on technical risk analysis and mitigation.
  • Offer value engineering and constructability solutions.
  • Lead HDR scope, schedule, and budget development for AD projects.
  • Estimate technical investments and participate in Go/No-Go discussions.
  • Risk evaluation and sharing with commercial, business development, and operations leaders.
  • Interface with construction contractors and HDR subconsultants during pursuit and project phases.
  • Avoid handover of projects until FEED teams are built out.
  • Support FEED development and project team stand-up.
  • Develop templates, standards, specifications, drawings, processes, and procedures for transmission line EPC.
  • Provide EPC best practice guidance to pursuit and project delivery teams.
  • Perform team development, mentorship, and leadership tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission design.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience building and leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
  • Experience developing engineering scope, schedule, and budget estimates on EPC projects.
  • Experience with transmission line design, procurement, and construction specifications.
  • Experience with value engineering solutions and discussions with material vendors and subcontractors.
  • Experience with pole and foundation design.
  • Experience working with environmental, real estate, and GIS teams.
  • Strong leadership skills and engineering management experience with multiple remote teams.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience in related field.
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.

Pay

Compensation range based on experience and location: $160,090 - $228,700.

Schedule

Up to 20% travel may be required.
