About the role
Act as an interpreter between students, parents, and school staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and Spanish at Special Education meetings. Interpret with no additions or omissions, following technical information, legally mandated educational requirements, and Special Education terminology. Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or the district.
Handle three-way hotline interpretations between school staff and parents while maintaining daily phone activity logs. Render clear and exact translations of written materials following guidelines.
Responsibilities

- Translate written materials accurately following guidelines
- Comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification
- Pursue continued development of skills and knowledge
- Actively contribute as a team member and support the District mission
- Perform all other assigned tasks and duties
- Use FM transmitters/receivers (interpretation equipment)
- Maintain an adequate work environment if working remotely (free from distractions such as pets and unexpected noises)
Requirements
- Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S. equivalency); or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s degree or some college hours preferred)
- Two years of experience as a translator/interpreter with knowledge of ARD/FIE procedures in a school setting (preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish, both oral and written
- Strong written and oral language skills in Spanish and English, including proofreading with keen attention to detail
- Experience with Google Docs, Word, and PDFs
- Reliable transportation
- Exemplary attendance and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Strong organization, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills
Schedule
- Full-time
- Must be available for evening, Saturday, and short-notice meetings
Pay
Minimum salary: $37,414.00
