About the role
The teacher for our Transition and Young Adult Self Directed Service Program plays a vital role in the daily management of the program, including implementation of each individualized plan and supervision of Behavior Therapists ensuring program needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Implementation: Preparation of lesson plans, instructional programs, protocols. Prepare for each class and provide age-appropriate settings conducive to learning
- Skill Acquisition Support: Collaborate with team members, families, and stakeholders; implement individualized plans; make data-based decisions and modify teaching lessons as needed
- Data Management and Reporting: Work with Director of Transition to create and implement data collection systems, complete progress reports for students, maintain accurate attendance and grading information in school's grading & attendance software
- Collaboration and Communication: Create a safe positive environment for all staff and participants, develop systems for delegation of necessary tasks to staff members, develop strong relationships with program stakeholders, participate in meetings, provide feedback to instructional assistants and behavior therapists regarding all responsibilities
- Compliance and Professional Conduct: Adhere to all agency policies and procedures; treat participants, families, and co-workers with respect and dignity; cultivate a positive and productive atmosphere; participate in and complete training sessions; conduct training as required; perform additional responsibilities and accept reassignment as required
Qualifications
- Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree required
- Certification in general or special education in the state of Connecticut
- Maintain active and in good standing CT Certification
- Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, school districts, and all levels of staff across the organization
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Computer skills required (i.e., proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; experience with CT-SEDS preferred)
- Must have satisfactory background checks
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
