Transition Specialist - Secondary

Essential Functions

• Acts as liaison between students and employers
• Affords support to the instructional program by assisting vocational coordinator, teachers and related staff
• Coordinates with state and federal agencies and programs to obtain information regarding guidelines for program implementation and client services
• Counsels students in independent living life and social skills
• Counsels students in career education and job search skills
• Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records
• Maintains compliance with pertinent child labor laws, insurance guidelines, and safety
• Maintains monitoring of students' performance in a variety of work sites
• Participates in a variety of meetings to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions and remain knowledgeable with program guidelines
• Promotes the program to the business community, students, participants, teachers, parents, etc.
• Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources
• Tutors students in vocational skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
