About the Role
Assist the store manager in sales, store appearance, and overall operations while preparing for a transition to a higher management position at another store or role.
Responsibilities
- Supervise professional and retail operations of the store and team members.
- Oversee work performed by all team members assigned to the store or HUB store.
- Collaborate with the District Manager and Store Manager in recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging team members.
- Communicate all information from Zipline and monthly store managers’ meetings to team members.
- Train new team members and handle performance evaluations, including recommending pay increases.
- Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
- Support the Store Manager and Assistant Management Team in ensuring safety compliance and training, including:
- FastTrack Training and work-exercises during introductory training.
- Customer service programs and required training certifications.
- Equipment utilized for in-store services and miscellaneous training workshops.
- Safety coaching, delivery vehicle training, and accident reporting.
- Monitoring and reinforcing safety expectations.
- Make sales calls with or without the store manager, potentially on a weekly schedule.
- Support store operations, including store accounting, daily invoice review (e.g., cash paid outs, voids, sales tax, missing tickets), cash management, and store security.
- Maintain store, vehicle, and delivery fleet appearance, and keep records for each vehicle.
- Ensure the store and HUB store remain neat, clean, and organized at all times.
- Manage electronic scheduling, clocking, and payroll.
- Monitor key components of profitability, including:
- Professional customer returns for core and warranty abuse.
- Competitive price matches and price overrides for proper use.
- Individual team member productivity and KPI dashboard (reviewed daily).
- Monthly P&L statement review with the store manager to discuss areas of opportunity.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Must complete Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training, and Manager Development Program.
- Ability to read and match numerical/alpha characters quickly and accurately.
- Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment, and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- O’Reilly store and/or distribution center experience.
- Completed O’Reilly management training program.
- Advanced computer skills.
- ASE Certification.
