Transit Security Officer

About the Role

As a valued member of our Transit team, this role involves performing security and safety duties to protect Transit property, staff, customers, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Security Patrols: Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety and security, including monitoring traffic, CCTV, and alarms, as well as establishing a presence on buses.
• Incident Response and Reporting: Engage with dispatch and management about incidents, address complaints and illegal activities, collaborate with law enforcement when needed, investigate, and file timely reports.
• Customer Service and Rule Enforcement: Provide assistance and information at transit stations, enforce rules, and address complaints and incidents effectively.
• Policy Development and Training: Create policies and training programs, liaise with law enforcement, assist with fare collections, and follow safety protocols and directives from superiors.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma, vocational/technical diploma, or equivalent training and experience
• Two (2) years of law enforcement, security, or related experience
• Must be able to operate a radio, tablet/iPad, cellphone, computer, and related software
• Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)

Special Requirements

• Virginia DCJS approved Security Officer Training with Firearm Certification or the ability to acquire within ninety (90) days of employment
• CPR and First Aid certifications, or the ability to acquire within ninety (90) days of employment
• Physical demands include climbing and descending steps, walking approximately ¼ mile in all weather, bending or squatting, and lifting up to 100 lbs

Pay

Hiring Range: $47,319 - $52,050 DOQ

Schedule

Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week
