About the role

The Sales Account Executive position at Lamar Transit in Phoenix, AZ, is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets by selling transit advertising campaigns to local businesses. Key responsibilities include developing relationships, prospecting new clients, making sales presentations, negotiating rates, and managing existing accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain business relationships with local businesses and advertising agencies
  • Prospect for new business accounts and present campaign ideas to existing and potential customers
  • Identify potential growth areas and open new accounts
  • Generate new business for Lamar's products
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales projections
  • Coordinate sales efforts with marketing, sales management, accounting, and operations groups
  • Share pipeline reports, appointment calendars, and proposal updates with manager weekly
  • Plan and organize personal sales strategy to maximize time investment
  • Maintain open communication with management on customer needs, problems, and interests
  • Stay updated on product applications, technical services, market conditions, and advertising trends

Requirements

Required qualifications include a college degree in business, marketing, or a related field, 3 years of successful business-to-business sales experience, and a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include advertising/media sales experience and proven track record of sales-based relationships with local advertising clients and agencies.

Qualifications

Essential functions include light lifting, seeing (with a focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, talking, turning, and walking. Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 10%.

Skills

  • Proven track record of sales-based relationships with local advertising clients and agencies
  • Ability to competitively sell against other forms of advertising to include TV, radio, digital, and OOH
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and CRM (Salesforce preferred)
  • Persuasive selling skills with the ability to work with a high level of urgency while maintaining a strong focus on customer service
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct business correspondence
  • Ability to perform effectively under fluctuating workloads
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to meet a sales quota
  • Working knowledge of general sales techniques
  • Ability to cold call businesses
  • Ability to be intrinsically motivated to succeed and withstand rejection
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction

Benefits

First year earning potential of $40,000 - $150,000/year, including commissions. Schedule

A Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm in-office (combination of in-office and selling in the field) work schedule for the duration of training, with the opportunity for hybrid work after training
