Transformer Technician Supervisor
Supervise transformer assembly
Supervise transformer assembly, including radiators, bushings, conservators, and accessories.
Lead degassing operations
Lead degassing operations, pressure/vacuum testing, and oil sampling procedures.
Manage re-gasketing and O-ring fabrication
Manage re-gasketing and O-ring fabrication, and installation.
Oversee teardown and prep of damaged units
Oversee teardown and prep of damaged units for transport or disposal.
Conduct advanced transformer testing
- Conduct Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, Core Ground, and passivation/system protection alarms tests.
- Document and submit test results with a high degree of accuracy.
Maintain tools and equipment
Ensure safe use and condition of tools, vehicles, and testing equipment.
Enforce safety protocols
Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols, especially environmental containment.
Follow safety protocols
- Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas.
Operate equipment safely
Operate construction and industrial equipment safely within load/capacity limits.
Travel requirements
Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass a DOT physical.
- Pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Available for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors in all weather, at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipment.
- Good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments.
Bonus points
- Prior experience leading transformer service teams.
- Understanding of transformer oil testing procedures and reporting.
- Familiarity with transformer disposal preparation.
- Knowledge of oil processing and degassing best practices.
- Class A CDL, OSHA, and/or TWIC card.
- Technical training or certification in transformer repair or electrical systems.
- Experience with transformer testing software or OEM systems.
