Transfer Station Attendant

Safety minded Transfer Station Attendant position in The Dalles, Oregon with Waste Connections.

About the role

This is a safety-sensitive role working in a covered area and outdoors in all weather conditions. The schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with frequent overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
• Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe, and/or front-end loader.
• Run errands using company vehicle as needed.
• Measure trucks in and out and calculate payments for customers.
• Track measurement information in computer system.
• Ensure incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain inappropriate material.
• Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
• Assist with office duties, filing, and paperwork as needed.
• Ensure customers and employees conduct all business safely and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to operate a company motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Dependable with leadership ability.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Must pass a criminal background check, drug panel screening, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.

Pay

Starting wage is $34.98/hour with an increase to $36.20/hour at 6 months pending a positive performance review.
