Transfer Center/Patient Placement RN Part-time

We are seeking to hire a Part-time Bed Control Nurse to coordinate the placement of all patient admissions (elective and emergent) and transfers in accordance with the clinical standards and guidelines of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Ensure patients are admitted to the most appropriate bed available using criteria for admission.
- Determine if patients are candidates for observation or inpatient status.
- Contact physician specialty groups for physician-to-physician consults from outlying facilities.
- Coordinate transport of patients to the facility with Life Flight and robotic consults.
- Know and manage bed availability on all care units of the medical center.
- Navigate the robotic consult protocol.
- Determine the appropriate physician to take outside physician consults.
- Assist in coordinating air or ground transport.
- Facilitate inter-facility transfers of patients from outlying facilities.
- Communicate with managers, charge nurses, and clinical coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for patient admissions.
- Utilize IUSM for patient placement decisions.
- Coordinate with environmental services and patient care units to speed up bed turnaround.
- Participate in daily bed briefing and surge and intensity meetings as necessary.
- Initiate new concepts, approaches, and procedures to facilitate the admission process.
- Monitor the overall capacity status of the medical center and coordinate interventions during peak census or limited staffing.
- Coordinate with transport, PACU, and inpatient units for physical bed movement.
- Enter calls from outlying facilities into Forefront.
- Utilize Central Logic to search for physicians and use the paging system.
- Communicate frequently with the emergency department to facilitate timely admissions.
- Prepare periodic reports regarding issues and concerns in patient placement.
- Serve on committees within and beyond Patient Care Services.
Requirements
- Current RN license required.
- Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.
- Provide licensure or proof of application in process for an Oregon RN license within 90 days of hire.
- Acute care, critical care, or MS experience required.
- Minimum of two years of Registered Nurse experience required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS).
- Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

- BSN strongly preferred.
Schedule
This position is part-time, 16 hours a week, collaborating and supporting our night shift teams.
