About the role

The Transfer Admissions Counselor is part of the on-campus recruitment team and supports transfer recruitment initiatives. This position serves as the primary recruitment counselor for incoming transfer students from both 2-year and 4-year institutions. They will build relationships with prospective transfer students and community college contacts to support undergraduate applicants to UAH from the point of inquiry to enrollment, plan and attend recruitment events, and promote the university’s brand.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a recruitment territory of incoming transfer students.
  • Travel to recruitment territories as needed, approximately 6-10 weeks throughout the year.
  • Assist incoming students through the transfer enrollment process alongside community college partners.
  • Attend school visits, college fairs, and other off-campus recruitment activities on behalf of the university.
  • Develop and implement a transfer student recruitment plan alongside Admissions leadership.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for students from targeted areas.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students at all points in the admissions funnel through telephone, email, texting, in-person, and written communication.
  • Answer telephone, email, and other inquiries and provide information to students, their families, and school counselors.
  • Follow up, track, and communicate with prospective students and assist them from prospect through enrollment.
  • Represent the Office of Admissions at on-campus recruitment events, including preview days, open house events, admitted student events, and new student orientation.
  • Assist with transfer credit articulations and provide preliminary credit information to incoming transfers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 or more years of full-time verifiable work experience in a university or college setting OR 1-2 years as an active member of a student organization.
  • Database management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to be covered by university vehicle insurance.
  • Valid driver's license.

Pay

$44,000 - $46,000
