Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment, the Transfer Admissions Counselor will support the recruitment and matriculation of transfer students. This position advises prospective and admitted transfer students, monitors their enrollment experience, and promotes the mission of Mines through recruitment, admission, and enrollment programs to meet transfer student enrollment goals. The role serves as the lead contact for both prospective and admitted transfer students, including Mines Academy students, and handles questions related to transferable and applicable credit until students are officially registered. Additionally, this position leads admissions for Mines Academy partnerships, advising students toward seamless admission and enrollment. The counselor will collect, review, and analyze transfer admissions data, providing routine reporting on enrollment trends to ensure strategic goals are met. This is a full-time, 12-month, administrative faculty professional exempt position.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer Admission Advising (50%)
    • Serve as the lead contact for advising prospective and admitted transfer students.
    • Create individual advising plans and provide support to students preparing to transition to Mines, in collaboration with the Registrar’s Office and the Center for Academic Services and Advising (CASA).
    • Collaborate with Mines Academy staff at community colleges to monitor progress and conditional admission of Mines Academy students.
    • Represent Mines at outreach programs via involvement with professional or community organizations specific to transfer students.
    • Respond to student and community college partner questions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Transfer Student Recruitment, Admission, and Enrollment (30%)
    • Serve as the lead campus contact for recruiting new transfer students, with an emphasis on community college transfers.
    • Develop and implement a transfer recruitment plan, including on-campus and off-campus events, Transfer Fairs, and regular visits to transfer institutions.
    • Review transfer admissions applications, make independent admission decisions, and counsel students on those decisions.
    • Suggest adjustments to institutional policies related to transfer student recruitment.
    • Collaborate with offices such as the Registrar, Financial Aid, NeST, CASA, and MEP to support prospective transfer students in their admission and enrollment.
  • Transfer Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting (10%)
    • Develop and implement a data collection and analysis plan for transfer recruitment, admissions, enrollment, Mines Academy, and general transfer enrollment trends.
    • Create regular reports for the Admissions leadership team.
  • General Undergraduate Recruitment, Admissions, and Enrollment (10%)
    • Represent Mines at scheduled college day/night programs and events throughout Colorado and out of state as needed.
    • Meet with prospective students and their families, both first-year and transfer, as part of the Admissions office.
    • Plan, offer, and lead on-campus and virtual advising sessions, individual counseling sessions, group information sessions, and campus visit opportunities.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
    • Perform additional duties to meet the objectives and goals of the program and/or Mines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Prior experience in student recruitment, college advising, or other college student services.
    • Understanding of college admissions, recruitment, and student advising.
    • Ability to balance multiple priorities, responsibilities, and projects simultaneously.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Strong sense of customer service and ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Willingness and ability for overnight travel.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience collaborating with campus departments to support transfer students.
    • Progressively responsible experience in student recruitment, college advising, or other college student services.
    • Knowledge of transfer student admission and recruitment needs and challenges.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with higher education leaders regarding the transfer student experience.

Pay

$56,000–62,000 annual rate. Mines considers a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s scope and complexity, discretion and latitude required, work location, and external market and internal value when determining salary.
