About the role
Introduction Mano Lani has an opening for a Training Specialist to join our rapidly growing team in the Colorado Springs, CO area. This position will provide support for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence, and Space and Missile Defense School. The objective of this effort is to ensure superior education and training on all elements of space and missile defense and real-world operational requirements. Mano Lani is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development. The Training Specialist provides the training necessary to execute platform training and documentation. The Training Specialist trains individuals, often in a field environment, on all individual, common, and implied tasks. Provides input to after action reports and hot washes. Ensure that the execution of the demonstration or tasks is being conducted correctly and within the standards of the training plan. Provides input to the training documents that are presented to the users of the item or system. The selected candidate will support course design, curriculum development, and instruction aligned with current Army and joint space doctrine. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of military space operations, instructional systems design (ISD), and the ability to operate in both classified and unclassified environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead classroom instruction, delivering courseware aligned with Army and joint space doctrine (e.g., JP 3-14, FM 3-14, ADP 3-0)
- Facilitate learning in both classified and unclassified environments, using visual aids, simulations, and student-led exercises
- Apply Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles (e.g., ADDIE model) to update curriculum and lesson plans
- Collaborate with doctrine developers, Army space professionals, and joint space instructors to ensure training accuracy and mission relevance
- Apply operational knowledge of space systems such as SATCOM terminals, GPS receivers, missile warning platforms, or SSA tools
- Participate in operational planning, exercises (e.g., Warfighter, JWA), or space integration with land component operations
- Maintain training records, evaluation data, and student feedback in accordance with USASMDC and DoD training standards
- Conduct training needs analysis and task validation to ensure alignment with evolving operational and doctrinal guidance
- Support student assessments, after-action reviews (AARs), and continuous curriculum improvement initiatives
- Integrate feedback into curriculum improvement cycles
- Provide mentorship and subject matter expertise for junior and new instructors and cadre integration
- For assignment to Mobile Training Teams, willingness to travel up to 75% CONUS/OCONUS in support of training events
- For assignment to Training Development team, provide subject matter expertise in training methodologies, curriculum development, and performance evaluation
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 25 lbs.
