TRAINING SPECIALIST (BMD)

This position is a Mission Essential role within the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) module of TACTRAGRULANT, ensuring continuity of operations and task completion critical to the mission.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the command’s ballistic missile defense (BMD) training efforts.
• Advise the BMD Module Head (O-5) and the Director of Operations and Training (O-6) on BMD training, mentoring, assessing, synthetic wargame development, and execution.
• Serve as the command’s principal Training Specialist for planning, coordination, and execution of Ballistic Missile Defense Exercises (BMDEXs).
• Coordinate warfare curriculum development and execution using synthetic wargaming software (e.g., JSAF) for synthetic events/exercises.
• Represent the command’s BMD Module during conferences, meetings, teleconferences, and video teleconferences.
• Review and provide inputs to all BMD-related official correspondence, messages, and documents, including annual Officer Fitreps and Enlisted Evaluations for subordinates in the BMD Module.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
• Appointment of retired military members within 180 days of retirement is subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance; failure to do so may result in withdrawal of job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; random testing thereafter.
• Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, via military or commercial aircraft for extended periods.
• May require periodic overtime or compensatory work cycles during holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience, including:

• Leading the planning, development, and execution of complex military training programs, particularly in a joint or maritime environment, including designing training scenarios, coordinating large-scale exercises, and developing academic curriculum.
• Applying expert knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) operations, tactics, and doctrine, including integrating BMD concepts into synthetic wargame environments and training events.
• Comprehensive understanding of BMD is non-negotiable; 50% of duties involve serving as the principal specialist for BMD training, planning, and execution of complex BMD exercises (BMDEXs).
• Experience in the full lifecycle of military training, from curriculum development to execution and assessment of synthetic wargame events, with familiarity in simulators such as Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF).
