About the role
A key member of the Quality Assurance department responsible for certified training. The Training Specialist is responsible for the design, development, implementation, coordination, and facilitation of company training and development programs.
Responsibilities
- Assess and implement training needs for new and existing employees
- Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps and/or career pathways
- Partner with internal stakeholders regarding employee training needs
- Mentor and implement individual development plans for employees for the next step of their career path
- Build and implement annual training plan
- Apply, coordinate and oversee training grant programs through state and local agencies
- Work with managers and supervisors to create standard work, cross training tools, and programs to meet specific training needs
- Coordinate employee certification programs with department leaders
- Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment
- Research training suppliers and materials as needed – including details, cost comparison, and timelines
- Develop and maintain a training procedure for learning data and certifications
- Enter learning data in training database to track completion and certifications
- Administer and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Orders supplies for training as needed
- Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in employee development
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and client relations skills
- Ability to create and maintain documentation and reference materials
- Basic understanding of technical terminology
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to learn from interactions and analyze personal performance to improve and respond well in a rapidly growing and changing environment
- Pleasant personality, must interact with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors
- Read and understand internal procedures and policies
- Ability to learn reports, functions, and simple software programs with assistance
- 3+ years of production operations experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
- 1+ years of experience in a hands-on training role (Lead, Supervisor, Trainer)
- Creation and delivery of effective training in both written and oral formats
- Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management
- Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Licenses, Certifications, etc. Knowledge of J-Std-001, IPC-A-610 and IPC-620
