Training Specialist – Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer

Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for customer personnel supporting the Navy's Advanced Warfare Training (AWT) training program.

• Utilizes exceptional customer skills to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support technical and tactical laboratory training.
• Works as a team member to identify learning gaps and train SQQ-89A(v)15 technicians and CIC watch standers in the technical & tactical employment of the ASW sensors and weapon systems.
• Works as a team member to complete customer deadlines which may have competing/shifting priorities.
• Provides subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC courses supporting the employment of the ASW courses.
• Conducts dynamic assessment of the sailors’ abilities to comply with operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.

Job Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a qualified SQQ-89A(v)15 Undersea Warfare System technician with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment. One year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include presentation skills, public speaking, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction, and counseling students on academic learning problems.

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Prior SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU instructor experience is a significant plus.

Additional Qualification

Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance level.

Required Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication skills and experience as a Navy instructor (NEC 805A/9502).

Preferred Skills

Master Training/Afloat Training Specialist.
