Training Specialist - 1st Shift

Job Summary

The Training Specialist works closely with their manager to provide instruction and deliver various technical/hard skill training programs to staff at the warehouse level. This position ensures that training programs are implemented consistently across departments and shifts with the intent to enhance knowledge and skills of employees, ensuring a high degree of productivity, as well as increasing the accuracy and quality of work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality technical/hard skill training to newly hired employees as part of a robust onboarding program within the distribution center.
  • Administer ongoing technical training to all applicable employees during new process rollouts, system changes or after the identification of knowledge/experience gaps.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team leads and employees across departments and shifts to identify training needs and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a resource for all employees regarding job tasks, company policies and procedures and warehouse initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Training & Development on best practices for effective training strategies.
  • Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals.
  • Abside by all company and warehouse policies.
  • Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall operation.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

Experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts in a simple and concise way to ensure ease of understanding.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs.

Education

This role does not require a degree. We value relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values above all else.

Desired Traits & Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in training and development role; experience working with a large group of non-exempt employees preferred.
  • Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
